Recently Hitachi Transport System (America), Ltd. donated 4,500 square feet of warehouse space to the American Red Cross
Los Angeles Region, to store disaster relief supplies.
These supplies include cots, water, blankets and other
materials. Hitachi Transport uses the warehouse to receive, store and transport the goods for many companies,
but now it will also significantly increase the Red Cross’ readiness to respond to disasters of all sizes
including, single family home fires, wildfires and earthquakes.
In addition, Hitachi Transport has offered to
train Red Cross volunteers as forklift operators. During disasters, supplies need to be retrieved quickly and
the forklift training will increase the Red Cross’ ability to set-up shelters and meet the needs of clients.
Mr. Yasuo Nakatani, president, Hitachi Transport System (America), Ltd. said “This is the start to a growing
relationship and we hope to provide further support to the Red Cross in the future.”
“Hitachi Transport’s donation and training partnership will enable the Red Cross to expand its resources and
more efficiently provide our disaster services to the community,” said Paul Schulz, CEO, American Red Cross
Los Angeles Region.
